Help / FAQ
How do I add a gift?
Open an occasion, choose the person, and tap Add gift. Or open Family, choose their household, then Christmas gift ideas. For a product, open its page in Amazon or another store, tap Share and Copy link, return to giftgift, and paste it into Paste a product link. The app tries to fill in the name, photo and price. Check the details, add size or color, then tap Add gift at the bottom. You can also skip the link and type a gift or wish yourself.
Will the recipient see a gift I add?
New gifts you add to someone else’s list are hidden from that person by default. Other people with list access can see them unless you select a smaller audience. Turn on Visible to recipient only if you want the recipient to see the idea. Your own wish-list entries are visible to you. Existing gifts keep their saved visibility when edited. Purchase details remain hidden from the recipient.
How do I join?
Use the invited email to create an account, verify the email, then accept the invitation. If the link was lost, signing in with that verified email recovers a current approved invitation. Creating an account alone does not grant family access.
Why does it say I am not part of the family?
Check that your sign-in email matches the invitation. Josh can create or replace an invitation in Sharing and invites or Adult accounts. Sign in to your existing account; do not create a duplicate. Expired or canceled invitations cannot join.
How do I add another adult to my household?
Open Family, choose your household, then Adult accounts. Enter the new adult’s name and sign-in email, create an invitation, copy the link and send it. Pending invitations can be replaced with a corrected email. Joined accounts cannot be reassigned to another person.
Does the app send invitations for me?
No. Creating a link does not send it. Use Copy invitation or your device’s sharing menu and send it yourself. Unused invitations expire after seven days; joined membership does not.
Who can see our gifts?
Each household chooses which connected households can see its lists. Sharing is directional and does not pass through a chain of households. Gift privacy and hidden-list choices apply in addition. New households start with their own lists private.
Can I see what someone bought for me?
Purchase details on your own lists stay hidden. After the occasion, a buyer may choose to show their name to you. Passing the event date alone does not reveal a buyer.
What do Claim and Purchased mean?
Claim reserves a gift so others can avoid buying it too. Purchased records that you bought it. My purchases gathers your own claimed and purchased gifts. Release cancels your reservation.
What if a claimed gift changes or disappears?
The notification bell alerts the affected buyer when someone else edits or removes a claimed or purchased gift, including during account cleanup. Mark read dismisses the unread indicator without deleting the alert.
Who gets comment alerts?
Authorized gift creators, the buyer and previous commenters receive private in-app alerts for new comments by someone else. People excluded by gift or household privacy receive no alert. Comment alerts do not identify a hidden buyer.
How do I track received gifts and thank-yous?
After the occasion, recipients can mark gifts Received and Thank-you sent. Parents can do this for their children. Buyers can see those recorded statuses and choose whether to reveal their name. Older purchases remain in My purchases.
How can Josh remove an account?
Sharing and invites has a confirmed removal control. Family removal deletes the profile, its wish lists, gifts it added, comments and invitations. Other people’s gift ideas remain. Children must have another active parent. The organizer cannot remove himself.
What is full sign-in deletion?
When authentication-service administration is connected, Josh can choose Full sign-in deletion to delete the login identity as well as family data. The app first revokes family access. A provider failure leaves an explicit deletion-pending state for retry; it never reports partial work as complete. If setup is missing, the full-delete control is unavailable.
Are notifications sent by email or text?
Gift-change and comment alerts are in the app. Email reminders are a separate optional feature and require sender setup; saving reminder preferences alone sends nothing. No SMS or push service is enabled.
How does automatic price filling work?
Pasting a supported product link automatically starts a lookup. When several product offers are readable, the app chooses one and labels an estimate or starting price. Retailers can block access or hide prices until checkout, so some prices still need manual entry. Review the imported name, price label, image and notes before saving. You can enter or correct details manually. Store links are searches, not verified price comparisons.
How can I check which update is installed?
The footer shows the interface version and server version. They should match. If they differ, reload the app. The installer’s Published message means deployment finished; the visible version identifies what is actually running.
How do I keep it on my phone?
On iPhone, open giftgift in Safari, choose Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, use the browser’s Add to Home screen option. The bird appears on new home-screen shortcuts after the icon update. If you still see a letter, remove the old shortcut and add it again. Browser storage must be available to retain sign-in.
